[Invitation] Stories from the Streets of Berlin - Kovacs & Dyberg's Album Release Concert

Kamilla Kovacs and Mia Dyberg

Do you already had any planes for the big Friday Culture Night (Kulturnatten) in Copenhagen? No?! Come to a CD release concert in JazzHouse!

Kamilla Kovacs and Mia Dyberg

Danish/Hungarian vocalist Kamilla Kovacs and Danish/Swedish saxophonist Mia Dyberg are releasing their brand new album called "Stories". The album is dedicated to the Capital of Germany, where both artists lived.

Kamilla Kovacs and Mia Dyberg

"After living in Berlin, we felt a need to express the moods, stories, and the special energy the city gives us. We have composed songs dedicated to different places and streets in Berlin that meant something special to us or inspired us. Among others there is a song to the Ghanaian pushers in Görlitzer Park (Kreuzberg) one to the lost love in Neukölln and improvisations dedicated to the ghostlike mood on Nalepastraße (Rummelsburg)", said Mia.

Where & When: JazzHouse, Friday 10th October 2014 at 23:00

Laugenes Opvisning 2013

Laugens Opvisning

It has been a long time, since the last Copenhagen Fashion Week took place. But luckily, there is one more event for fashion enthusiasts in November - Laugenes Opvisning.

Laugens Opvisning

Laugenes Opvisning is an annual presentation of Danish contemporary fashion, unique jewellery, and trendy hairstyles held under the auspices of Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte of Denmark, a sister of the Danish Queen.

Actually, I am not a fashionst and have never been to a fashion show before. Of course, I love to put on chick and smart clothes. But I take it much easier, since I moved to Denmark, started to bike daily and to wear windproof and waterproof outfits. The main reason, why I went there, was my German friend Clarissa (and the princess).

Clarissa aka Frau Schwarz is a hairdresser. An amazing one! She studied a hairdresser school in Germany, had worked in a hairdressing saloon for a few years, moved to Denmark, and now is in the final year of a hairdresser school in Copenhagen. And it was her new school that challenged her to create a stunning hairstyle for the show.

The fashion show itself was nice. Beautiful models, elegant dresses, tempting music... My favourite items are folded 'origami' dresses,

the green hat,

and the ultralong necklaces. I'm going to write them on my Christmas wish list. Let's hope my boyfriend surprises me. :)

I also enjoyed the last part of the show where daring hairdos were presented. And I love the idea to dress the models into colourful theatre costumes.

I enjoyed sun, a bit of music, a bit of exciting documentary movies, many great photos and provocative pictures, fresh book art, and colourful food and excellent mint tea.

Quiche, Ice Cream and Networking Nature

Monday Food

Taking pictures of food I cooked seems to be my new obsession.

Monday Food

Anyway, I enjoyed another sunny and productive day in Copenhagen on Monday. I spent some time studying Danish at home, washing laundry, trying new quiche recipe, sunbathing in Nyhavn, and eating the best ice cream in the city. And before my regular Danish classes started, I also made it to a super interesting lecture at Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID).

The lecture was called Networking Nature and was hold by an Italian couple from the design office Studiomobile. I was pretty impressed by their eco-urban concepts and their believes in the adaptation to climate changes.

They designed different ecosystems living off seawater in the past years. Their biggest experimental project is called Jellyfish Barge. It is a nomadic public space for farming built with recycled materials and low cost technologies. It would be so cool, if these floating islands would be produced in developing countries, don't you think?
